A poem of sorts..first one that I have written in many years

Darkness you were once my friend
Whispering that all would be alright
Sitting still late at night
And yet...

Darkness you were once my friend
I never knew that you could lie
I once raised my voice in song
Sitting there in darkness, hiding

I had joy then
Darkness my friend
You hid me until the sun rose
On yet another day

I believed you
When you said I was made for something more
When I longed, ached for someone to hold me tight
You hid me in your darkness, telling me, that all would be alright.

Now darkness my friend,
I am afraid to raise my voice in song
There are no ivory keys to play
No joy

I was made for something more than this
Oh how I wish I could believe your lies
Age is catching up now
Wisdom comes with age

Darkness, you hid me when I was young
When I watched the stars..and believed
You hid me in times of fear and regret
Darkness of the night I still believed even then

Down the path I have trod
Missed the paths to hidden dreams
Followed someone else's beat
Darkness, where are the songs that you said I would sing?

Lifes Journeys

If life is a journey, why can't I find directions on my GPS? Even the most updated units do not have a map, that clearly leads you to your destination in life. They have everything else marked on it..hospitals, places to eat, ATM machines, schools, ped crossings, and our new one even tells you constantly what the speed limit is...even if you are only 1k over the limit!
There are no clear directions on where each and everyone of us should be going.  At birth we are not given a handbook that tells all of lifes little secrets, or what path to take. Nor are our parents equipped with a handbook on how to raise a child into a successful adult. There is nothing clearly defined when we are growing up on how to handle our disappointments or failures, or even our achievements. What we do have is our environment, parents included, who are a reflection of their own upbringing, that shape and mold us into what we become as adults. How we perceive the world is determined by what life has taught us in our growing years.
Make no mistake, it is still our choice on how we react to each and every thing that comes our way. The choice is always ours, and ours alone on how we handle situations.  Sure, you can ask for advice, listen and use it, or discard it, but what remains is our own free will to choose.  God created us that way, to have our own free will to choose, whether the decisions are wrong or right is in our court.
Anyway, I think that this is probably enough waffle for today.  It is not even what I was going to say.  It took so long to come up with a name, that I forgot my original text. I guess this is something to build on.....
